We’re really looking forward to welcoming you back to Woodstock, Vermont; and all the comforts of our exclusive family run hotel, 506 on the River Inn. Working with the Vermont Department of Health and our senior managers we have established the following reopening plan:

Updated 12/01/20

  • 506 On The River Inn may accept overnight reservations from:

-Vermont residents.

-Out-of-state residents as follows:

  • Due to rising COVID-19 case counts across the Northeast, effective on November 10, 2020, the State of Vermont has suspendedits leisure travel map and implemented a mandatory quarantine for anyone returning or traveling to Vermont

506 shall require a signed document from the guest(s) attesting they meet the quarantine requirement, have traveled from a county with similar active COVID-19 caseload per ACCD, are an essential/authorized worker, or are a Vermonter. All guests must also complete a health questionnaire. The Agency of Commerce has provided a Certificate of Compliance format that meets both these criteria.

Any guests that exhibit signs of illness or COVID-19 symptoms upon arrival may not be allowed to check in.  If symptoms begin during their stay they must be asked to leave and return home if possible. If departure is not possible, guests must self-isolate for the remainder of their stay and the Vermont Department of Health must be contacted immediately.

The State will publish an updated map periodically at identifying quarantine and non-quarantine counties throughout New England and beyond.

Travelers from outside Vermont are highly encouraged to register with Sara Alert upon arrival to Vermont to receive daily reminders to check for common symptoms of COVID-19.

We have always prided ourselves on the impeccable standards of cleanliness offered throughout our hotel, from guest rooms to restaurants; and from conference spaces to back-of-house facilities. 506 recently has been designated a AAA ‘Best of Housekeeping’ property for 2020. However, so that you may have absolute confidence in our commitment to the protection of your health, we’d like to share with you the range of measures that we’ve put in place against the Corona virus COVID-19.  These initiatives, which have been carefully planned so as to ensure the health of both our guests and our employees, adhere closely to the guidelines laid down by the American Hotel and Lodging Association (ALHA) ‘Safe Stay’ initiative, which is a stringently researched bio-protective protocol designed both to guarantee optimum performance in relation to hygiene and safety; and to facilitate meticulous social distancing.  We have also taken cognizance of the guidelines recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and those issued by the State of Vermont and entitled ‘RestartVT Task Force’. For further information on all of these initiatives visit:

  • Every member of our team has been equipped with, and trained in the wearing and disposal of, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as regulated by the federal and state governments.
  • All employees are temperature-checked daily before entering our grounds. They are also required to complete a daily COVID-19 questionnaire formulated to identify any early indications as to breaches in infection protocols. Employees failing to meet the rigorously high standards relating to temperature, health and social interaction will be immediately sent home.
  • We have adopted the use of a scientifically-researched range of cleaning products/equipment that deliver optimized levels of bacteria-elimination (in accordance with CDC guidelines). Alongside these measures, we also require that all our employees wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, that our guests wear face masks in public areas, and that everyone adhere to the strictest levels of social distancing. Specifically, this means that:
  • Optimum access, either to hand-washing facilities or hand-sanitizers, is provided throughout the hotel and grounds.
  • A comprehensive range of signage and demarcation lines has been installed so as to make it simple for guests and staff alike to maintain a distance of six feet from each other.

The COVID-19 ‘Track and Trace Questionnaire ‘

In the interests of ensuring your protection we request that you complete a COVID-19 Trace and Track questionnaire 24 hours before you arrive at the hotel. This questionnaire has been designed to highlight any possible breaches that may have occurred, howsoever inadvertently, in the health and safety protocols of all our guests. And, In the interests of protecting all our guests, we regret that any guests whose answers do not meet our rigorously upheld standards will be required to make alternative arrangements for their accommodation. We should also point out that guests who find themselves unable to complete our questionnaire in advance will be required to complete it upon arrival in their rooms.

The wearing of face masks

We ask our guests to wear masks in all public areas. Bio-sensitive disposal amenities will be supplied both in the rooms and public spaces.

Social distancing

We must ask that guests and employees respect the physical distancing guidelines as required by the State of Vermont and remain 6 feet away from all people, other than those of their own households, at all times.

  • You may be assured that all the areas with which you may come into contact during your stay with us have been rigorously and repetitively cleaned and disinfected using state-of-the art anti-bacterial products and electrostatic sprayers specifically designed to cover large areas. This level of sanitization extends over all surfaces, elevator buttons, door handles, vending machines, ice machines, room keys, handrails and public bathrooms. Similarly, all dining surfaces and seating.
  • Our guests may have complete confidence in the fact that all the surfaces in our guest rooms will have been thoroughly cleaned by our PPE-protected housekeeping team before they take up residence. This will include handles, toilet seats and items such as television remote controls and/or buttons, control panels, light switches, temperature control clocks, ornaments, luggage racks and flooring

In-room housekeeping suspended

  • So as to minimize social interaction and the possibility of infection, there will be no in-room housekeeping during your stay. You may, however, request extra towels, linen changes and in-room amenities by calling our front desk, all of which will be left outside your door. All rooms, corridors and access points will have access to hand sanitizer and paper cups will be supplied to your room.

Room allocation

  • Where possible, and in the interests of maximizing social distancing our rooms will allocated so as to allow optimum distance between occupied rooms.
